Tips for Getting Good Job Offers through a Temporary Service
Let’s face it, regardless of what kind of education you have, or how much experience you have in your field, it can be difficult to find a job these days, at least one that you actually want to do. You have to find a way to make yourself stand out among the crowd, so that you get the best offers, rather than those other people who are also vying for the same position. This is not always easy to do, but is something that you should work on, so that you can land that good position with the excellent pay and good benefits that you deserve. If you can get hired on as a temp with your local temporary agency, you will have much better odds.
Employers rely on temporary agencies to supply them with quality workers that they need. Often, the work is only temporary, but on occasion, it does turn into a full-time position for the right person. The employer pays the temporary service a fee, and then you are paid by the temporary agency for the hours that you work. Most temporary agencies pay on a weekly basis, but this varies greatly from company to company.
As far as employee benefits, they also vary from agency to agency. Because many of their employees go on to find full time work with other employers, many temporary agencies find that a benefits package really isn’t necessary, since their employees use them as a stepping stone to get a better position. It really depends on what type of employee you are and the company policy when it comes to benefits that will be offered to you. If you are concerned about benefits, then you should talk to the temporary service staffing recruiter about your concerns when you go in to apply.
People were very leery of temporary services at one time, thinking that they were more of a waste of time than anything else, but that simply is not the case today. Both employees and companies that are looking to hire those employees are very happy working through temporary agencies, and more and more people are getting warmed up to the idea.
As with trying to find any job, it can take some time to tie up all of the loose ends with paperwork, testing, etc., and actually start getting job assignments from your temporary service. As you start getting and accepting those offers, and proving that you are a willing, competent, and driven employee, more and more will start to come in. You will see that you will get offers for more lucrative jobs, which will often result in more money for you, and of course, the chance that the job could turn into a permanent position is always on the horizon, so keep that in mind. Be proud of the work that you do, and be aware that you are being assessed at every job site you are assigned to, and you will go far!
